how we clean our entire home: nontoxic thieves cleaner
One of my biggest passions is creating a safe & intentional home and safeguarding my family from products & food full of toxins. We’ve been using Thieves Cleaner to clean our entire home (yes, literally every surface from counters to floors to windows and toilets) for nearly 5 years now. why switch to a natural cleaner?

Of the chemicals tested, toxic labeling is required only if 50% or more of the animals tested with the chemical die.
Under the TSCA, manufacturers are protected by trade secret laws that allow them to keep their ingredient list a secret. Sometimes that’s just to keep their competitors from knowing their formulas and isn’t hiding anything, but you’ll never know unless you can trust the way a company operates. To date of this writing, the EU (European Union) has banned 1,300 chemicals in cosmetics; the FDA in America has banned only eleven.
Another big issue with conventional cleaners is fragrance. Fragrance is a loosely defined term when it comes to personal care & household products. Thousands of synthetic chemicals are used to create modern day fragrances for our products, and some of these chemicals have been linked to health impacts ranging from eye and skin irritation to hormone imbalance and increased risk of breast cancer. Furthermore, these ingredients are kept secret—the vast majority of manufacturers currently are not disclosing fragrance ingredients on websites or on the product label.

+ 1 capful thieves cleaner concentrate
+ 16 oz glass spray bottle filled with water

thieves soft scrub recipe
I love using this DIY soft scrub to clean my sink, toilets, stove, & really anything that I might have previously used a toxic soft scrub to clean. Add these ingredients to a glass, airtight container (or cut down recipe to make a smaller single-use batch):
+ 1 cup baking soda
+ 3 TBSP thieves cleaner concentrate
+ 10-15 drops lemon essential oil
Stir together until a paste forms and apply to surfaces & wipe clean with water! If you’re not a DIY fan, you can just snag the Thieves Kitchen & Bath Scrub instead!
