Always dilute when applying oils on littles & we typically recommend applying oils to the feet to start. Here’s a quick dilution chart for kids:
- Newborn – 6 Months: 1 drop essential oil to 30 drops carrier oil
- 6 Months – 2 Years: 1 drop essential oil to 8-10 drops of carrier oil
- 2-6 Years: 1 drop essential oil to 2-4 drops carrier oil
- 6-11 Years: 1 drop essential oil to 1 drop carrier oil
- 11+ Years: Use as directed on label
This is a great question and something I was worried about too when I first started my oily journey – we have 2 kitties at home!
But after lots of research, we feel completely comfortable diffusing all Young Living essential oils around our pets. We make sure to keep all the doors open so if they ever don’t like the smell, they can just leave the room. A lot of the scary stories you hear online are when pet owners use synthetic or low quality essential oils on or internally with their pets. We only trust Young Living oils because of their Seed to Seal promise.
We would never use oils internally or directly on our pets without consulting a vet or doing lots of research first. As a fur parent, I urge you to do your own research and do whatever feels most comfortable + safe for you and your pet(s)!
